Mormon - Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day saints

July, 24, 2006

I was approached by two Mormon's on a street the other day. One of them stopped me, and asked me if they could share the gospel of Jesus Christ with me. Politely, I told them that the Mormon’s have women preaching from the pulpit in their group. He confirmed that, and said “yes we do." I said, “Well the bible says that these are non-spiritual people.”

He went on to say that he knew a lot of women who were more spiritual than men. I reminded him that these were the words of the Apostle Paul from the bible, to which he said, “whatever”.

Shocked that someone who was claiming to be a Christian missionary would respond “whatever” when talking about the Holy Scriptures, I asked him if he had just said “whatever” about the words of the Apostle Paul.

He then threatened me, and said...

"I know a woman who could slam you into the ground!"

This was a person claiming Christianity! I was shocked that anyone claiming to preach the gospel would make a threatening statement like that was, and right in front of my family!

Beliefs of the Mormans

Whether on a Churchwide or local level, women lead and serve in the Church. Women regularly teach and pray from the pulpit.

While women are not ordained to the priesthood in the Church, they regularly sit in council meetings with priesthood leaders to provide insight and advice.
